How to create, tag and manage your session  segments

Step by step guide on how to create segments on our web app and drill down deeper by adding tags to segments and athletes.

How to Create segments with tags

Creating a Segment

  1. Open the Playerdata Web app and navigate to the session you would like to segment.  Tap into the training session and tap the green button “create segments”

  2. Tap the information icon located in the top right crner of the screen to view all keyboard shortcuts and controls for creating segments
  3. A speed trace for each athlete in the session will appear and an area to create a new segment at the top. By default, all athletes are selected. To manually choose athletes, untick ‘Select All Athletes’ and pick individual players.

  4. Use the top bar and control + click and drag to highlight the desired time period. A blue box will appear showing the segment’s duration and the number of athletes included. Adjust the start and end times by dragging the blue handles to fine-tune your selection.

Naming and Tagging a Segment and athletes

  1. On the right-hand side, enter a name for the segment. If you've used this name before, it will auto-suggest from a dropdown menu.
  2. Add a tag to categorize your segment (e.g., “Pre-season”).

  3. To tag individual players, use the checkboxes next to their names to select them. Then, on the right under Athlete Tags, choose the appropriate label (e.g., “Pre-season”).

Managing segments

  1. To duplicate a segment, click it on the timeline and press Control + D. You can then drag the duplicated segment to a different time in the session. To adjust its duration, simply drag the segment’s edges to the correct start or end time.

  2. To reset your view and zoom out of the drills, click the magnifying glass icon.

    1. To reorder athletes, sort them in ascending or descending order.

    2. The settings toggle allows you to view:
Athletes with data first; Only selected athletes and Only athletes with data
    3. the person Icon allows you to filter your view of athletes by group. For example midfielders.
