How to Create and view Session Targets
Set targets for a training session, track athletes progress live, and review outcomes afterwards
How to create a template
- Open the PlayerData app and navigate to Session Targets.
- Tap the + icon in the top right corner. Enter a Template Name — for example, MD-1.

- Tap Add metric at the bottom of the screen and select the metric you want to set targets for.
- Available metrics: Distance, Session Load, Percentage of max speed, Sprint Distance, High Intensity Running, Accelerations, Decelerations.
- Tap Done. The metric is added to your template and is ready to configure.
- Set the Team Target for the metric. You can choose one of two target types:
- Min–Max Range — enter a fixed minimum and maximum value (e.g. 9,720 m – 11,880 m).
- % of Baseline — set a percentage range around the baseline figure (e.g. 90% – 110% of 10,800 m). The slider defaults to 90–110% and spans 0–200%; you can also type values above 200%.
- To override the team target for specific athletes, tap Add custom target within the metric card.
- In the Select athletes panel, choose individuals by name or select entire groups using the Groups section.
- Tap Done to confirm your selection, then set the custom min–max or % range for those athletes.
Note: All changes save automatically as you go.
How to apply a template to a session
- Create your session as normal. When prompted, select the template you want to apply and tap it to attach it.
- Targets are assigned automatically to athletes in the session. Anyone in the template who isn't in the session is skipped.
- You can add, edit, or remove targets at any point — before, during, or after the session.

How to view session targets
- A colour key at the top of the screen shows each athlete's status.
- Each athlete card shows their current value, a progress bar indicating where they sit within the target range, and the target range itself.
- A data coverage bar runs beneath the target bar — this shows how much of the session has been captured so far.
Note: If you are not using live data, your targets will appear in the session once you sync your units.
Session Targets Ipad View
- Viewing your session targets on an iPad gives you a table view of all metrics for each athlete.
- You can also filter which specific metrics you would like to view in the session using the Metric Filter button.
- If you use athlete groups, these will appear at the top of the table and you can tap them to view specific athlete groups.
