Creating A Match Session (Stepped Session)

This guide will walk you through the process of creating your match sessions in the PlayerData app.

  1. Tap the green plus icon in the bottom bar and open the create menu.

    1. Tap on the “New Session” option in the list to enter the form.

  2. Now select the time and day the session takes place.
    1. First select the time with the session start time picker.
    2. Then select the start date by either choosing a quick option or by tapping on the “choose a custom date”  input box below.

    3. When you’ve selected the day, hit save and continue to proceed.

  3. Now you select the session type and duration of the session. Use the dropdown to choose the match session.

    Period Selection
    For a match session tap on each period and break and scroll to select the length of each part. The “break” element is how long a gap there was between the periods in the match session.

    (You will see the start & end time beside the name of the period. You can see the full duration of the session on the bar above).

    Hit save and continue to proceed.

  4. Now select the athletes that took part in the session. You can select all athletes, select athletes in one of your athlete groups or select them individually by tapping on their name in the list below. (When selected, the athlete will have a green checkmark next to their name). Hit save and continue to proceed.EDGE Assignment

  5. Now you assign the EDGE units that each athlete used in the session. Tap on the dropdown under the athlete’s name to see a list of available EDGE units for this session.

    Note: Athletes will automatically be assigned the EDGE unit they used in a previous session.You can use the Clear Assignments button to clear all the EDGE assignments on this page. (If you make a mistake you can back out of this page or exit the form without saving. This will mean your changes aren’t saved and you can come back to this page).
    1. If you don’t see any EDGE units in the list, it usually means you haven’t performed an EDGE sync or that the session times are in the future.
    2. If you want to assign EDGEs that haven’t been synced, uncheck the “Show only synced EDGEs” checkbox at the top to show all available EDGEs.
    3. If an EDGE has been used in another session at the same time as this one, it also won’t appear in the list for selection.

      When you’ve finished assigning your EDGE units, hit save and continue to proceed.Gateway Selection

  6. This next step only applies if you’re using PlayerData Connect.
    1. You can select the available Gateways that you want to use in this session. Tap the gateways you want to use in the list. 
    2. When selected, they will show a green check next to their name. You won’t see this screen if you have no Gateways available or if your session took place in the past.

      Hit save and continue to proceed.

    3. You can now select the pitch that your match session took place on. Pitch selection is required to generate heat-maps and other tactical maps. Tap on one of the pitches in the list to select it.
    4. If you don’t have any pitches, tap the “create a new pitch” button.
    5. Type in the address or name of your pitch and the green next button at the bottom.
    6. Pinch and rotate your fingers on the map to fit the pitch image over the area of your pitch. 
    7. Give your pitch a name and hit save. It will then be available to select in the list of pitches.
    8. Hit save and continue to proceed.

  7. The final screen in the process takes all the additional details about your session. For a training session you can attach a survey, tags and fill out a description. 
    1. For a match session you can set the opponent’s name, the score, survey, tags and description.
    2. Hit save and finish to view your new session. You will then be taken to the overview page of your new session.
